in a post to someone ya said ya will help drivers out i would like to add ya as a frind and get yur guidance , i am currently failin at becoming an o/o as a lease purchase driver for sammons trucking, where when i 1st started all looked and seemed great, i still like the company and what i do but.. after a full year i paid 500.00 truck payment, not to happy about it and considering giving the truck back!!

AS an Independant Owner Operator 35 years, many company driver positions since 1965 and Farmers' son using trucks routinely as a child, I can honesty take you from being broke to cash in pocket but first thing is NEVER lease a rig thru the company you drive for BECAUSE you never get honesty in your paperwork but you do pay alot of their bills that without you, would go unpaid.. That is #1 and #2 is always get someone as wife or friend you can trust and NEVER look at your books and NEVER ask but HOW AM I DOING ?? Questions...As a driver, the less you know about the #'s the better you go thru the day.. Always keep you mind on picking up loads and dropping them and keeping your expenses down.. When you drive and pay only the attention to keeping your rig loaded and  money coming in then you do not get involved in the arguments and discussions because of some missing paperwork that was overlooked and you lose your temper over nothing..  A kind word telling you that maybe you are behind is nice but bickering over it only destroys your occupation.. My list is long but this is hte headlines I offer right off...

Ok I am thinking about getting a truck from Lone Mountain (www.lonemountaintruck.com) Looks like they have some good pricing and good trucks, what do you think about that. Ya can get a truck with like 3000.00 down and pay ments are like 1200 a month for 36 months.

OK in reference to your reply where-as you THINK you want to purchase a rig for $3000 down and $1200 a month and that is suicide right off the bat for HOW you going to maintain the rig and be able to write checks you can cover when work is slow or cheap paying as most has become and then add the expense of a trailer, tires, fuel, insurance and 6 kinds of taxes levied on you from State and government as well as DOT... BAD MOVE here when there are so many easier to obtain cheaper monthly payment rigs available... What you are looking at here is a SUCKERS CONTRACT...
