What do you think about that show? Like it? hate it? Think this is exagerating?

For myself, I think this is too much. It can be dangerous sometimes but not all the times like they try to show us on tv!

I agree, Hugh Rowland is a black eye to the trucking industry, they can keep him off of the American highways....

I really can't watch the show....it makes us look like we have a lot of stress and meltdowns all the time!!  Also, being a female truck driver I find the "Lisa" in that show makes all women truck drivers look like idiots since both times I have watched it she does something to screw up....and I can get under a rig and fix things mechanically as much as the next guy!  I really don't like being portrayed as the helpless little girl that always has to be helped by the big strong men truckers (although sometimes it is nice to have a little chivalry)...LOL

Lisa is a real nice lady in reality and has earned her way up from never having driven anything bigger than a car..She was self taught with co-drivers and the will to do whatever she wanted to do.. She worked in shop and on docks to begin with and I really liked her spunk.. NOW that MIRA lady from NY is a starlet from the word go for she was a decent driver who just wanted to do an ALASKA trip to be on camera and write her book and then off to the Carrabean Islands and into TV adds and Trucking Shows at I-80 Truckstop ect for she was as she knew herself a queen and goddess for all men to admire and she is spendy to hire for a job now.. She was too  phony and I could tell all but I will merely say that she sure remained a traineee for along time..

 I think it is a bunch of crap. Just as the previous driver I ran up there in the early 80s in a truck with no Jake, no fuel or block heater, not to mention the cab heater didn't work that well when got below -20. Those drivers are a bunch of sissies that can be glad they have it made as well as no traffic, very few cops and DOT, just themselves and a few drunks eskimos and an ELk or Moose every now and then.

  Their just as fake as the ones on the new show, tuffiest trucker

With respect here, I have to say it but I totally disagree with your annalisis of Trucking up north for NO truck would make it without heaters both in fuel and cab in 20 degree weather ... As for "Drivers being a bunch of sissies," I totally disagree with that as well for there are alot of abandonded rigs along the hyway and drivers dead in or near the cabs ... they have very few cops for real .. Drunk Eskimos ???  Only takes ONE moose and you no longer a driver of anything though...

Its way too dramatized, but I get a kick out of watching it. Alex is good, a true proffessional, but Hugh is a real jerk. He tears up equipment and doesnt care, is conceited and selfish.

this show gives us all a lousy image

it all about ratings and think of what, the average 4 wheeler thinks of us

a lot of them are scared of us as is, so this just reinforces this image

i know people who know hugh roland and their opinion is very low

all the roads can be dangerous but not like the camera angles show on tv, ratings again

he used to have his own truks and what happened to them he no longer has them ?????

i cant watch the show cause its just to hard to watch how bad we are portrayed

hi as i sit in the uk and watch this program every week i  like the irt  when their in the ice that is a realy good program to watch and wish that i was there doing just what those truckers do day in and day ouy over here we get about 4 inches of snow and the whole country comes to a stand still .

But when they are  in the moutains its not so good and lisa well it took her 4 weeks just to let gw drive he shoud have had mor driving hes not gonna learn sitting in the spotters seat is he and if you think your badly portryed over here we are all rapists and peidofiles acording to the telly we are also  credited to being to big on the road to dirty to slow and a menice to society but just remember 1 thing in the uk we live on an iseland  everything we own that isnt alive ie pets  ARRIVED BY TRUCK .   REGARDS ALIE UK

Ice Road Trucker is interesting is some ways althought it is set up to be a reality show.TV rating are the main goal of this show.Hugh is probably coached to act as he does just so so viewer can form a opinion of him.As far as the driving goes I think some of it is dangerous and probably hard but they like to dramatize it for ratings.When a good old Canadien winter strom hits and your caught out on the highway it can be way more dangerous then just driving on frozen water.

I think that the show was designed to peak the intrest of young new drivers. It just does not really show what trucking is about. I run 401 hwy in ontario and it is known as the most dangerous hwy in noth america lets see them do that every day.
