Truck Stop Food,etc

I'm not in trk anymore (retired) ,but I would always go out of my way for "Pilot" coffee.If I had to fuel at "TA" , I would then go down the block to get my coffee at the Pilot (the TA coffee would make your mouth pucker up & make your stomach upset). As far as food,I used to like Whites on 81 at exit 205 in Va. I've heard that it has been changed now ?

I agree with you  lol  After 30 years, retired too, but really miss it.  My wife and I went togeather, and had alot of fun. One time we was in Wisconsin, at a no name truck stop and she like the cheese and chips, like at Pilot, and they did not have any cheese.  We laugh on that for a while.    TWD

Whites is awesome! I think its a Petro now. I used to LOVE the food at the little rest. in Guymon, OK right next to the shell truck stop! ITS SOOOOOOOOOOO YUMMY!

ref my post - anyone ever stop at "The Diner" in Ronks,Pa (on the eastside of Lancaster) US Hwy 30. Whenever I was in there they always piled my plate hi with food - if you left there hungry , it was your fault. There was a Sunoco Fuel Stop just a few hundred feet to the east.

I got to tell ya'll about this dinner me & my Wife had. A few years ago we spent the nite at the old "76" trk stop (ex 109 - Elkton,Md)(TA took it over). After we got thru with our meal,the waitress ask us "would you like some dessert" (a young girl,I think she was still in high school) , we said "yeah thats a good idea , what kind of pies do you have" , she said "let me go look". She came back to our table & said "we have blueberry/pumpkin/apple & some kind of pie that looks green looking , I think it is lemon but it is going bad (green)". I said "oh now we don't want a pie that has a fungus or something wrong with it" , "you don't have lemon,uh" ,she said "I'm sorry" & walked away for a few mins. I told my wife that young waitress was really looking at a >keylime< pie & didn't know it. I called her back to the table & said "we will try that green pie or whatever it is , if we don't like it we will get something else" , she said "ok". It was great tasting keylime & when  we left I tipped her because she did give us good service. It was just funny to us that she din't know she was looking at a keylime pie.

Hey guys I'm new to the road, I got my CDL with my tuition assistance, and hit the road with my dually and a 3 car wedge. Iwish I gave myself  more time to enjoy a good meal. Problem is that most truckstops around CA, Az, and Nv are too geared toward fast food, in which case I just fill my big old Loves mug fulla Mt Dew and grab a couple of them 2 for $2 tonado things. Plus a full meal would make me too tired to drive LOL. Thanks for the stories
