Why can't I follow my dream

The open road has always been my dream.

Have driven since I was old enough to hold a drivers licence. That would make it now 33yrs with only one small accident (minor fender bender) and well over 3m miles.

Have driven the biggest vehicle you can drive on a car licence and even 7.5t. Driven for some good and some bad companies. But since being laid off last year. I can't get back into employment. Is it cause of my age, or is it cause now you have to own your own vehicle?

Doing everything I can to  get back on the road. To get my CDL will cost me so much, that I can't even dream of doing it. Can't get finance thanks to the banks.

Is there anybody out there, that can give me a break. I got white line fever ha ha. The more miles the better. Can do continental work. Have great knowledge of the European and Scandinavian roads. speak English (native) Dutch (fluent) and can get by with the German, French, Spanish and Fins. 

Would like to move Stateside, but thanks to 9/11 that will never happen. Have driven over there and have driven through all mainland States and Canada.

I just love to drive, and the more I do the better it is.

It is good to be a master of anything which can lead you to your dreams. In my opinion, you should own your personal vehicle it will be helpful. It will help you in clinching new deals and rates rather than looking for a job. I do agree age may be a factor in not getting a job, but your experience is also precious. I would suggest that, you to use that for your own good and on your own resource.

I think it is the time to have your own vehicle as in my opinion you had enough job until now and this is the perfect time to work for your own dream, I think you are not getting the job because of your age, but you know that you can do this better than anyone else.

Kris, I'm not going to go back into operations anymore either. I got out when I was 50 however, I decided not to throw away my stake in it because I know people so that's why I'm helping the industry with this and it's my own business but part of an organization that helps me. I have guys and ladies joining me part time and building it and a few guys that came in full time and are going full steam ahead like me. I had an owner operator who took a close look at this where I was presenting the other day who is interested in building this on the side while he is traveling around out there. We are over by you too and I can recruit by you. Do you know anybody in the rail industry too, buses, taxi's, motor coaches, farming? Here is what I'm doing if you know of anybody Kris. David, I would sure love it to be back in the industry that I love and know.

Just over here in the UK I keep coming up with the same problem. Either I got to be an o/o, or that they want to use foreign drivers. With all the miles that I have driven, (at least 100k+ a year since 1981) I have past my 3M miles accident free miles. Would give anything to move Stateside or Canada and get my CDL there. But at almost 50 I think that I am too late for that

I am not in ei, I am over in the UK and over here they don't want to play ball. 

Most of the outfits I have spoken too, want to have ppl that have their own van or truck.

Can't get anywhere over here in this forsaken dump of a country.

Been writing to International companies, but most either don't bother or ask if I have my own vehicle.

Seems to me they are not wanting to have to buy vehicles any more, just have people working for them with their own.. Been to gov websites and offices and they say that there are no funds any more thanks to the recession.

if ur on ei go to the gov they pay for it

use it if u got it other wise go to the ltl outfits they usully looking for guys that can drive smaller truks
