Any vehicle has fire extinguisher in case of fire in a truck it should be repaired to the utmost limit. Insurance can also be claimed if it is insured. If the maintenance works are done perfectly and safe to drive then there should be no hesitation in bringing it back on the road. This is my personal opinion, but everyone has their own interest and opinion.
The QUESTION should be; Would I drive this truck if it were mine and I had payments due or would I have it repossed because it had caught on fire and was repaired and put roadready to put back out to be driven safely?? As a company driver, PUT yourself in your employers shoes and look at your bank account and decide which is in your better interest and you will be back to work ASAP and appreciating every minute and dollar of it without question for EVERY mechanical piece of equipment has issues eventually so is this one LIFE THREATENING or just a setback ??? Is it worth parking a perfectly good vechicle and purchasing another one you cannot afford ??? Is it having been on fire a permanent problem or temporary one that can be corrected ??
Did he not have a fire extinguser on the truck. Most trucks nowadays require this,on the left side of the drivers seat on the side of the seat mounted by a metal clamp for just that reason.Easy access for the driver to get to and use in case there is a fire
I dont see any reason to quit. Crap happens. Now if it happens all the time, then i imagine i'd look for other employment. As for driving the same truck, depends on what kind of fire it was.(electrical, fuel, brakes etc.)
