Super 8 says truckers are dirty ppl

Just as an FYI for everyone here, I just tried to reserve a room for my husband at Super 8 motel. Was told that the room was going to be $56.99 for a single king bed non smoking... I then asked if they offered a discount for CDL holders and was informed that since he holds a CDL there is no discount, and the price would actually be higher... He was then quoted at $59.99. not much more expensive but when I asked why the price was higher, I was informed that it was higher because TRUCKERS ARE DIRTY PEOPLE! That reservation was cancelled reallllllllllllllllllllllllly quick!

Wow, I stayed at the Super 8 in Maybrook NY before (they have parking for at least a dozen trucks) and got a room for $25 less than the public price because I did have a CDL. Motels are franchise businesses that have to adhere to the overall regulations the parent company sets but still have the right to make their own rules. Even still I agree with others you should send off a letter to the corporate company and file a complaint. I bet if the manager had to sit for 10+ hours in a truck they would "smell" just as dirty as we do at the end of the day. I'm guessing that he's just got a bug in his butt because truckers actually work harder and make more money than he does. Sucks to have a degree in management just to become a motel manager, can't hardly pay off the student loans on that pay.

I just went thru the posts here and ONE thing I did do alot in truckstops was to take a walk and see how many plastic bottles there was in the grass surrounding the TS and MT them out by kicking the tops off with my shoes and there was a time when I had drivers throw them at me and I wanted so bad to take em on but I instead just went on and kicking the tops off for I wore wolverine shoes with steel toes and it gave me something to do to get exercise that I so badly needed but later had a heart attack and forced to retire anyway but I hated to see the younger generation of drivers who KNEW IT ALL throwing garbage out of their trucks in hopes of someone coming along and picking it up after them as if they were masters and everyone was slaves to them ... I even caught my own driver throwing trash out with a garbage can right close by and he was too lazy to carry it over to the can UNTIL I let it be known who he worked for and how close he was to being unemployed so he did go around picking up trash for awhile as I watched ... I did give him choices of which the took the clean up one..

I called the local Super 8 and they denied any thing to this degree of discrimination but if  you have pets then there is an added charge but not because of being CDL carriers ...  BUT I honestly would love it if someone could prove this to me that any motel would charge a driver higher fee because he or she is a driver... I would make the motel chain regret this to no end...

Oh trust me.... I have reported til I am blue in the face!!!! For the most part they don't seem to care, so I'm checking into a few things before I go any higher.. and who knows, we might just end up in court before its all over!

I would NOT let this go........I would contact Super 8 franchise offices and definately report this.

Regrettably many people have put that stigma on the industry and drivers as a whole. When I trucked I stayed where it was cheap and the motel sometimes reflected the types of drivers that stayed there. But to disciminate like that is wrong.

I think that is totally out ragous. If that had of been someone for the Far East, They would of had that Motel charged with Discrimination. What the Hell is happening to our Industry? We are most certainly not dirty people. And even when we are dirty, ( Only because we work for a living,) It might just be that we want a shower to clean up.It doesn't mean that we are dirty. That is so off the wall. I would love to contact that paticular motel just to give them what for!!!!!!

Keith, lol Im the young one in our marriage, Im 25 and hubby is 37 (yeah I know)!!!! lol

Ive seen alot in truck stop parking lots, but ive never actually seen someone *go* in the lot and pull off, that is just plain disrespect, not to mention NASTY!!!!!!! No, not all drivers are dirty, in fact, alot of drivers that stay in hotels are cleaner than most because they get a shower far more often than the average driver... Ill be the 1st to admit, sometimes a shower daily is almost impossible, but thats where BABY WIPES come in handy!!!!! Plus not to mention the new leave in shampoo they make for women, ITS A LIFE SAVER!!!! and only $3 lol.... 

I know this doesnt belong here since its about super 8, but I hope all of you are safe and warm.. Im riding with hubby for a month, and already 1 week in got stuck at budweiser in Columbus OH during a tornado.. We are safe and sound! Plus while im out here my hometown got 13 inches of snow!!! So to everyone out here and your loved ones at home, Please stay safe and warm!!!!!!! & if no one told u today or yesterday or tomorrow, THANK YOU ALL FOR WHAT YOU DO TO KEEP THIS COUNTRY MOVING!

Unfortunately there are a small but growing group of drivers that have no respect for anything. I've seen guys poop in Flying J parking lots and get back in their truck and drive away, to walls in truckstops with fecal material on them. If your picture is an indication, your husband is quite young. It will be up to guys like him to prove the merchants wrong. NOT all truckers are dirty.
