Driver Exchange   I am interested to find out how many drivers would like an exchange programme between different coutries ? would it  work ? they do it for students.

The idea came to me because i have a son who lives in the USA, and  thought it would be a good idea if i found a truck driver  to swap positions with me..ie a working holiday..do you think a scheme like this could work ?

I would love to, but the getting a CDL here in this country might be a little tricky, that and verifying your experience as the EU does not report to DAC or Ten Street, two companies we use to verify a drivers history.  And with the current exchange rate, I am not sure you would make enough over here to really have a "bus mans holiday".  It is doable, but I see a huge amount of paperwork in your future!

Your UK car licence can be switched for a Canadian one but you would have to sit a Class 1 and Air Brake test before you can drive a semi truck once you have that it covers everything including a Bus the test is about $1500 or there abouts depending on the training needed.I did 2 hrs a day for 5 days then sat my test and that was it first trip took me to Chicago a long way from hauling fish frae the Brock and berries frar Blair and Arbroath.

I already have a class 2 licence here but hoping to upgrade to class 1 very shortly
